Just Another Flight

gravata flight view

Saturday was a hot day and had a moderate breeze. I was surprised because recently the weather hasn’t been kind. Last week non stop rain poured for 3 days and on the 31/01 a storm caused floodings all over the island and continent, a rare scene.

It was a relief to feel the good conditions so I couldn’t miss the chance to jump off a hill. I went to a site that I haven’t been for 2 years, Gravata hill, on the right side of Mole beach. As usual it it was crowded ( the busiest flying site in the island ) but the breeze was good enough to keep me aloft for a while.

Sometimes the bad weather discourage me but when there is a window I don’t miss a chance to be happy.

Pitangueiras Restaurant

Pitangueiras

Pitangueiras

Beside the calm waters of Ponta do Sambaqui, Pitangueiras is a typical seafood restaurant that enchant visitors with a wonderful view of the Northern bay. During the day it has a bucolic atmosphere and at night, the scenery of lights and Hercílio Luz bridge at the end, provides a romantic background.

The restaurant has 2 ambients: a house with few tables for rainy and windy days, and the popular deck, where the most requested tables are located.
I have been to the restaurat a couple of times and I like the meals. There is a good variety of fish dishes and other local specialities. In opinion the down side are the snack portions. Sometimes it is not prepared carefully and it doesn’t have a good presentation. The good news is that you can order half portion (half price) for all snacks, so you can taste it before risk ordering a large portion.
The prices are moderate. A fish dish accompanied with rice and salad for 2 people costs around R$50 or if you want a traditional shrimp dish it might cost you around R$ 70. They serve many seafood snacks to accompany your favorite drink, like squid (around R$ 14), shrimp (around R$ 20) and oysters (around R$ 14), just to name a few.

The staff is kind but not professionally trained to offer a high quality table service. The waiting time is also a problem if the restaurant is full, especially during high season.

Pitangueiras is a popular place for Happy Hour and tourists might also find the location fantastic, but an advice, just don’t expect a top end cuisine and service.
Anyway, the scenery might be able to distract you from little things.
