Light Breeze

Parapente Brava
The day was very hot; unusually hot for this time of the year and the forecast will be the same for the next couple of days. I woke up and felt a light breeze blowing and I expected some flying condition would be on for any Northeast take off. And so there I was at Brava beach with my wife, refreshing ourselves at the very clear sea with almost no waves, just waiting for the wind to pick up. It did; a bit late, but enough to make my day. Thanks God.

Biosphere

Conceição Lagoon
Florianópolis has been recognized as a Urban Biosphere Reserve under UNESCO’s. The inclusion of Santa Catarina island has been discussed since 2005, after a UNESCO meeting in Mexico. Since then National and local organizations have been working on the project. Last month it has been approved, competing with cities like New York, Beijing and Cape Town. More than 60 % of Santa Catarina island is protected with environmental laws and it counted on making the decision.
The status will give Floripa the oportunity to give an example to the world as a region where is possible to have sustainable development along with urban life development, however it is important to look deeper into the problems it already has such as polution, crime and social exclusion. The fame of a place with good quality of life is making real state speculation rise fast and new condominiums are taking the spaces that belong to all people.
The Global warming certainly triggered concerns on sustainable develoment and as it is unevitable for cities to grow, we are seeking a model that can at least reduce the impact human beings are doing to their living environment.

Pescador Lobo Restaurant

Friday, March 9th, 2007

Pescador Lobo is a typical fisherman seafood restaurant and the most popular in Praia do Forte.

It is run by a family and it reflects the simplicity of the place. The house is decorated with fishermen photos and stuff but what people really seek for are the tables in the sand. Sitting next to the water it is a difficult task in summer especially during sunny weekends but I was fortunate to get one table to enjoy the wonderful view in front of me. There are 2 restaurants next to it but distinguish they use different colors for tables and chairs. Pescador Lobo uses red.

Inicially I had garlic fried mussels ( R$ 13 ) which were very fresh and tasty, and of course a very cold beer to accompany it. Their menu has oysters, shrimp, squid, some other types of fish and beef. Later I decided to have a meal and I ordered a dish of grilled fish (Anchovy) with alcaparras (R$ 30) served also with salad, potatos and rice.

I thought the value and benefit rate for this restaurant was great. If you are looking for a genuine seafood restaurant with good prices, settle in a wondeful location which is Praia do Forte, I believe Pescador Lobo will give you a pleasant experience, unless it is not your day…
