Trail

The trail from Santinho to Moçambique beach goes along the coastline of Aranhas hill with great views of the cliffs and Aranhas islands. It is 2720 metres long, taking about one and a half hour to complete it. Quite easy to find the direction and with little hiking up, it is suitable for anyone with normal physical condition.
I had my my day off and took the way with my wife to Santinho beach to start the trail.
At the beginning of the trail you find some rock art, an ancient drawing that Costão do Santinho resort took for its trademark and and eventually, marketing sales. The sun was burning but a little breeze was cooling enough to make it a pleasant walk, not to mention the view…
When we arrived at Moçambique beach I was surprised by the clearness of the water. I haven’t see that crystal clear water for a long time.
That part of the island is very special for me, it has a magic vibration and it energizes me whenever I go there. Late afternoon we started to walk back, a better time to do that.
Arriving in Santinho beach we were rewarded with a very cold coconut water, a perfect end for a special day.

Bate Ponto Restaurant

Saturday, February 10th, 2007

Bate Ponto is one of the most popular restaurants in Santo Antônio de Lisboa, a popular gastronomic route pointed out with good seafood restaurants. What makes Bate Ponto popular might not be so much the food but the location, next to the water with a stunning view of the Northern bay.

I have ordered inicially oysters au gratin ( R$ 14 ) which came on a portion of 6 and right after a Shrimp Risotto ( R$ 49 ) for two. The food was good and well served but the table service was regular, making mistakes on orders.

The interior is simple: plastic tables and chairs and no decoration. Worth to get a table in the deck, nowhere else. For the overall price paid for a afternoon lunch, R$ 70 for two including drinks, I felt it is a bit more expensive than other restaurants of the same kind, however if the weather is good, the beer is cold and you are sitting next to the water, you wont’t mind paying that little difference.

Classic day

Aerial view

Today was a classic day.
My definition for it is a good blowing breeze, not too strong, not too weak just cooling me on a 30°C hot day. An amazing blue sky without a single cloud on sight. The sea so clear that you can see your feet on the bottom and the water, refreshing and clean. The wind was blowing east and I had my flight late afternoon. It was good enough to get a dream scene of this classic day.
